Rob is a Principal and senior architect at JDD Studio where he directs some of the firms most consequential projects. As a creatively driven architect and planner, Rob provides design and thought leadership to advocate for architecture benefitting both clients and the broader community. Common to all of his projects is a commitment to detail, collaboration, and innovation to create highly functional designs directly reflecting each client’s unique needs and aspirations.

With over 25 years of practice, including work in arts, worship, commercial, hospitality, and residential contexts, Rob has extensive experience in programming, master planning, architectural design, project management, construction oversight, and capital campaign support. Rob counts among his most profound educational influences the renowned architect and Rural Studio founder, Samuel Mockbee, and William McDonough, creator of the “cradle to cradle” design philosophy and author of The Hannover Principles: Design for Sustainability. These influences continue to inform his advocacy for sustainability and the social responsibility of design.

Rob‘s service to the profession and broader arts community includes as a current or past member of the Board of Directors of Highpoint Center for Printmaking, Northern Lights.mn, a City of Minneapolis Arts Commissioner, and as a guest design critic at several universities and mentor to students at the University of Minnesota College of Design. In 2013, Rob founded MINN_LAB, a consortium of architects, landscape architects, artists, and computer scientists who foster awareness and critical inquiry into the nature of contemporary cities and imagine their possible futures through the creation of multidisciplinary site-based installations. Passionate about travel and the outdoors, Rob is a lifelong sailor and enjoys hiking, canoeing, and immersing himself in new cities and cultures.
