Peavey Plaza Revitalization

Minneapolis, MN

In 2011, JDD partnered with O2 Design (formerly Oslund and Associates) to create concept designs for the revitalization of Peavey Plaza. The design mixed elements from Paul Friedberg’s original plaza; water pools, fountains, and plenty of formal and informal seating areas, while highlighting technology such as a large video wall and a sound garden. JDD’s principal role was designing a large video display and fountain structure, and public amenities including restrooms, cafe, and seating pergola. The resulting design is at once respected the important legacy of the plaza while creating a forward looking, dynamic, inclusive, and engaging environment for the public.
